Skateboarding Legend Jay Adams Dies of Heart Attack at Age 53, Stars Tweet Condolences

Jay Adams has passed away.

The 53-year-old skateboarding legend died of a heart attack while in Mexico Thursday.

Adams' history-making skateboarding career with the famed group Z-Boys was immortalized in the 2005 movie Lords of Dogtown, in which he was portrayed by actor Emile Hirsch.

Skateboarding pros and celebs alike have been taking to Twitter to remember and pay tribute to Adams in the wake of his death. "Goodbye Jay Adams. Thank you for inspiring us to get vertical and to keep pushing the limits of what is possible," Tony Hawk posted.

Colin Hanks tweeted, "Damn. Just re-watched Dogtown & Zboys last week. Jay Adams was the genuine article. #RIPJayAdams."

"R.I.P Jay Adams #Zboys #dogtown," Adam Levine's wife Behati Prinsloo wrote.

Emile Hirsch added, "We lost a true wild man with the passing of Jayboy. Jay Adams was a legend who will be missed."
