One Direction's Liam Payne and Girlfriend Sophia Smith Take a Cake Decorating Class Together!

Boy bander enjoys the sweeter things in life!

Liam Payne and girlfriend Sophia Smith made a sweet surprise at Cake Boss' Carlo's Bakery in New Jersey recently.

The One Direction singer stopped by to take a cake decorating class with his leading lady and told everyone in attendance that he was a "huge fan of the show!"

So did Payne plan on making an appearance, or just drop in?

"It was totally unknown," Adam of Carlo's Bakery tells E! News. "He tweeted at Buddy, and then he called the bakery [about coming in]."

Payne showed up with his gal pal Smith in tow, and proceeded to put his special touch on several cakes as well as try his hand at being a bakery employee.

"He put on a Carlo's Bakery shirt, and he came behind the counter and helped out some customers," Adam added.

He even "took photos with fans and signed some autographs."

The famous crooner then began decorating a blue fondant cake with white icing, while Smith worked on a pink and purple tie dye cake.

"They were just there to have fun. Totally spur of the moment. They didn't get to meet Buddy, Buddy is overseas, but they met his sisters."

Buddy's sisters Mary, Madeline, Mary's two children, a Carlo's instructor and the good-looking duo were the only ones allowed inside the private class.

"With Liam there it was pretty crowded, it added another level of hysteria. We had a lot of fun. The bakery loved having him."
