Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow seem like the friendliest exes because they're actually friends.

Although it seems very simple, their post-breakup relationship is still something that astonishes many (how could you possibly still be friends with your ex?!), so the Coldplay crooner did his best to explain their current status while appearing on On Air With Ryan Seacrest this morning.

"I'm not the best interviewee on this kind of thing, but we're friends and proud parents," Martin—who fathered Apple, 10, and Moses, 6, with Gwyneth—told Ryan Seacrest. "There's lots of love, and that's it."

His sentiments this morning echo what he said last week when asked a similar question about his relationship with Paltrow.

"The truth is...well, I don't really love talking about this stuff," Martin said on the Valentine in the Morning radio show Friday. "But the thing we told everyone at the beginning of the year is true. We are very close. We are not together. But we're, you know, that's the truth and that's it."

Martin and Paltrow announced they were separating after 10 years of marriage back in March in a post titled "Conscious Uncoupling."

Their statement read, "It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate."
