Allison Williams' parents couldn't be prouder that their daughter is going to play Peter Pan in NBC's live musical.

And on Wednesday's NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams actually got to announce his 26-year-old daughter's casting in the iconic role.

"Just today NBC announced Allison Williams will play the role of Peter Pan," he said, very straightforward and to the point. "The actress and singer is currently in the cast of Girls on HBO..."

Then, dad got a little personal with the exciting news, saying, "Family members confirm she's been rehearsing for this role since the age of 3, and they look forward to seeing her fly."

As Brian said this, an adorable childhood photo of Allison dressed as Peter Pan came on the screen. Earlier in the day, she Instagrammed the same sweet snap, saying, "I've been rehearsing for a REALLY long time."

In a statement, Allison gushed that playing this character "is a dream come true," saying, "It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"

"We couldn't be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan," NBC executive Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. "She's a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls—where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent—and we think she will bring the perfect blend of ‘boyish' vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken's powerful Captain Hook."

Peter Pan Live! comes to NBC on Dec. 4.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
