Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are all kinds of sexy in the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer, but that doesn't mean late-night can't poke some fun at the steamy clip.
Both The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and the Late Show With David Letterman hosts made some tweaks to the titillating teaser—some of them at the staff's expense!
Jimmy Fallon, for example, asked the members of his show's band, The Roots, to watch what they thought was the actual movie trailer. "But here's the catch," the Tonight Show host explained, "you know those scary faces that can pop up in YouTube videos? We added one of those to the trailer!"
The Roots' reactions were individually filmed, with each member seemingly taking in the building Ana and Christian chemistry at the start. But when an unsavory graphic popped up, interrupting the visually appealing clip they had been watching, they were shocked—to say the least!
Questlove actually screamed, jumped away from his computer screen and covered his face in horror! His fellow Roots' reactions were just as good, too (watch the clip above).
David Letterman, on the other hand, decided to incorporate himself into the clip. After admitting he hadn't been an early support of E.L. James erotica trilogy, he actually inserted himself into the movie's trailer. (Hey, who needs the red room of pain when you can have a late-night legend?!)
