We Gender-Swapped 9 More Marvel Superheroes (and No Surprise: They're Still Badass as Women)

Following the backlash against Thor becoming a woman, we thought it'd be fun to gender-swap more heroes

Leading up to their big Comic-Con Hall H panel this weekend, Marvel made a string of changes to their comic book cannon: First, that the Hammer of Thor would be wielded by a woman. Second, that Sam Wilson (aka The Falcon) would become Captain America

There was backlash to both, but especially to introducing a female Thor. So we thought we'd gender swap some more classic Marvel characters. Because if they still have the same powers and abilities, why shouldn't they be just as badass as the male versions?

Captain America

As the number of women serving in the military increases, why shouldn't we see a lady Cap? If only because we want to see a badass female super-soldier take on some of the B.S. women in the army have to face and show everyone what's what.

Ant-Woman

With the Paul Rudd-starring Ant-Man next up on Marvel's docket, there's probably going to be a renewed interest in the comic books. Ant-Man is a hero with a not great track record plagued by misogyny and worse, so maybe it's time to turn the mantle over to a woman.

Iron Maiden

Pepper Potts dons Iron Man's armor in both the comic books and the movie (in the former, she becomes a named Rescue, in the latter it's just Gwyneth Paltrow in the Iron Man suit), but we want to see a wise-crackin' female billionaire inherit the suit permanently.

Doctor Strange

Just as Strange as a woman.

Quicksilver

Just as fast as a woman.

Daredevil

Wants justice just as bad as a woman.

Namor

Namor is the Marvel universe's version of Aquaman, and he's a rather odd entity. No word on whether he'll ever make his way to the big screen, but in the meantime, why not transform he to a she in the comics? Mermaids are awesome.

Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson may have forever left his mark on the character of Nick Fury (look at the comic book version, he is nothing like what ended up onscreen). But when his time comes, a strong, smart, eye-patch wearing woman might be the perfect successor.

Rocket Raccoon

C'mon. Look how badass she is with her little raccoon gun!
