There Was a Doggie Surf Competition Over the Weekend and It Was Obviously Very, Very Cute

Unleashed by Petco held the cutest surfing contest ever yesterday--you gotta see the pictures!

What did you do yesterday? If it wasn't attending the Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog competition—or better, participating in the Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog competition—then we just don't care. Surfing dogs are all we care about today.

The event was held in Imperial Beach, Calif. and 50 dogs participated in four heats (large dogs, medium dogs, small dogs and tandem). They were judged on the length of their ride, size of the wave, the dog's confidence while surfing, the dog's positioning, and personality.

The pups all showed up bright and early, ready to ride...

And dressed to impress, too! Is that Under Armour, bulldog?

That retriever is even wearing a tie! Like it's casual Friday!

And then the dog surfing started. Mahalo, brother! Hang loose!

(For the record, there were experts on hand to keep all canines safe.)

And while some dogs looked like pros (above—look at those shades, there is no way that dog doesn't think surfing is a religion), others looked like they might want to be anywhere else except on a surf board (uh, below...)

And some dogs were just like, "Screw this! I'm going SWIMMING!"

Afterwards, all dogs got a nice, soft towel to dry off. A truly successful day.

Small Dogs: First Place: Ziggy, Second Place: Torry, Third Place: Mr. Tuff
Medium Dogs: First Place: Richocet, Second Place: Abbe Girl, Third Place: Kalani
Large Dogs: First Place: Hanzo, Second Place: Turbo, Third Place: King
Tandem: First Place: Hanzo, Second Place: Ricochet, Third Place: Konakai.

But, let's be honest: When dogs are surfing, we're all winners here.
