Kate Middleton is going to be making her first solo official trip abroad in September, her first royal engagement overseas without her husband since marrying Prince William in 2011.
So, what's the grand occasion?
A local source confirms to E! News that the Duchess of Cambridge is expected in Malta, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of its independence on Sept. 21. The local Times of Malta was first to report the exciting news.
Before the small Mediterranean island nation became a republic in 1974, Queen Elizabeth II was their queen and head of state. A governor-general executed law in her stead.
Meanwhile, this isn't the first time Kate has traveled outside of England without Will or appeared in a royal capacity solo (she's done that plenty of times), but it is her first solo trip overseas in a royal capacity as opposed to just a vacation.
And how we cannot wait to see her wardrobe. We're expecting the usual mix of new and old designer favorites from the famed fashion recycler.
The palace has yet to officially announce the trip.
