And yet another major A-lister has come to TV!

In case you didn't know, Halle Berry has made the transition from the silver screen to the small screen and it is a big freakin' deal, y'all! The Oscar winner's sci-fi drama Extant, which comes from Steven Spielberg, finally debuted tonight on CBS. In the ambitious series, Berry plays an astronaut, Molly Woods, who returns to Earth after a year-long mission pregnant. With an alien baby. Yes, it's crazy, but is it also crazy good?

Berry isn't the first major movie star to make a transition to TV. In fact, this TV season alone saw the arrival of Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michael Sheen and more on the small screen.

Meanwhile, stars like Jessica Lange, Claire Danes and Steve Buscemi have been racking up awards and acclaim for the past few years after turning to TV in hit series such as American Horror Story, Homeland and Boardwalk Empire

But just because a big name joins a series doesn't mean it's automatically going to succeed. Dustin Hoffman's HBO series Luck anyone?! And has anybody else already forgotten Greg Kinnear's failed Fox drama, Rake? (Sorry for the reminder!)
