MTV's drama about a super intriguing absolute nightmare premiered tonight, and we think we might be hooked.

Created by Bones' Emily Silver, Finding Carter  tells the story of a sixteen year old girl who discovers that her seemingly perfect mother actually abducted her as a toddler, and that her real family, including a mother, a father, a twin sister, and a little brother, lives about two hours away. When her kidnapper goes on the run, Carter has to adjust to life with the family she never knew.

That adjustment isn't easy. While Carter (Kathryn Prescott) misses her dream life, her new family has spent more than a decade dealing with their loss, and it's taken quite the toll. Mother and cop Elizabeth (Cynthia Watros) is cold and hardened, while Carter's sister Taylor (Anna Jacoby-Heron) has spent most of her life terrified of what she thought had happened to her twin. Younger brother Grant (Zac Pullam) has lacked the attention he's always wanted, and the dad, David (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Alexis Denisof), is dealing with the family's financial problems and a sophomore slump after the success of his first book about his kidnapped daughter.

The drama's a tad unrealistic, sure, but it's completely compelling. We understand Carter's rebellion and her loyalty to the woman who raised her, and we can sympathize with Elizabeth's determination to get justice on the woman who stole her daughter. We love almost anything Alexis Denisof does, so we love David despite his shady book-writing. We also love everyone else, and want to give them all hugs.

MTV is already home to some of our other favorite teen shows (Hello, Teen Wolf and Awkward!), so we're not surprised that we love Finding Carter already. We will absolutely be tuning in next week. Will you? Let us know in the comments!
