"There is a city where destinies are created and legends are born."
And Fox's Gotham is set to kick off the journeys of Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Jim Gordon (Benjamin McKenzie), two iconic DC characters, when it makes its highly anticipated debut this fall.
We've got an exclusive new promo, which first debuted on E! News, that previews the tragedy that brings young Bruce and Det. Gordon together at the start of the series and gives us another look at several other characters familiar to Batman fans, including Oswald "Penguin" Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) and Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), aka Catwoman.
Is it September yet?!
Set well before Bruce dons the Batman cape, Gotham tells the origin story of the city itself as it is shaped by the villains we've all come to know. One new baddie we'll be meeting? Fish Mooney, a mobster played by Jada Pinkett Smith, who looks all kinds of badass in the exclusive footage above!
And TV nerds lucky enough to be attending San Diego Comic-Con later this month will be able to get to see the Gotham pilot well before the rest of the world when Warner Bros. and DC screens the premiere episode on Saturday, July 26, with the cast and creators set to take the stage after. Also being screened for fans? The Flash's pilot, footage from NBC's Constantine, based on the DC Comic of the same name, and new footage from Arrow's upcoming third season.
Also starring in Gotham are Donal Logue as Det. Harry Bullock, Erin Richards as Gordon's fiancé Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nigma, the man who will become The Riddler and Claire Foley as Ivy Pepper.
Gotham airs Mondays, 8 p.m. on Fox.
