The View will look very different this fall. Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd announced their exits from the long-running talk show in June, leaving only Whoopi Goldberg as the remaining host. Creator, executive producer and co-host Barbara Walters retired in May.
As with any major upheaval, rumors are swirling about who will take the seats next to Goldberg when The View returns for season 18. Will a man join the series? New York Post reports Mario Cantone has an offer. Will Rosie O'Donnell return? Rumors have placed her at the forefront, but ABC maintains it's all just speculation.
"Any specific names at this point are rumor and speculation," a rep for ABC said. "There are no decisions and we are not ready to make any announcements."
Speculation is rampant that the show will bring on a conservative voice, perhaps a man or two and more comedians who are not afraid to speak their mind. Cantone, Ross Mathews, Bill Rancic and ESPN's Jesse Palmer have all served as guest hosts. The Bachelor host Chris Harrison would be a natural fit. Ann Coulter certainly has her fair share of opinions and Meghan McCain has the conservative hosting beat down. Comic Kathy Griffin has guest hosted The View and was in the running to join previously.
The media seems to have favorites for the job(s), but whom do you want to see alongside Goldberg when the chat show returns? Vote in the poll below and tell us your thoughts.
