Matt Lauer scored a major scoop!

The Today co-host revealed live on the air Wednesday that he'll be interviewing Pippa Middleton, the 30-year-old sister of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. Pippa agreed to sit down with Matt for her first-ever television interview, airing next week. The party planner discussed her recent 3,000-mile, 12-state bike trip for Bike Across America, as well as what it's been like to live under the royal spotlight.

The worldwide exclusive will air in two parts on Today Monday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 1.

Prior to revealing who his interview subject would be, Matt kept his New York-City based colleagues guessing. "I flew overnight to sit down and talk to someone who's gotten an awful lot of attention over the last two or three years, not only here in the U.K., but all around the world," the TV journalist teased.

Later in the episode, Matt and Pippa appeared live via satellite. "Hi, everyone," the party planner said.

Matt then teased Pippa about his travels. "I hate to say it, but I was actually in America all of last week," she told him. Matt then filled in the audience, saying, "She was riding in a bike event, and instead of me being able to interview her there, I had to fly 3,000 miles to interview you here. What's up with that?"

All jokes aside, co-host and mom-to-be Savannah Guthrie told Prince William's sister-in-law that she should give Today a call the next time she's in the United States. "I was on a bike," Pippa said, laughing.
