AKM-GSIKatie Couric married new husband John Molner in her Hamptons backyard this weekend, but they headed to a nearby restaurant for the big celebration.
The two hosted a dinner at the Topping Rose House after the ceremony on Saturday.
"Before dinner, there was cocktail reception in garden where Molner's father, Herby Molner, a ski instructor from Aspen, played clarinet with the string quartet," a source tells me. He performed "Stardust and "It Had to Be You."
A number of guests made toasts throughout the evening, including all of Couric and Molner's kids Carrie and Ellie Monohan and Henry and Allie Molner. Also offering toasts were Molner's brothers Tom and David and Katie's siblings John and Clara, as well as Molner's pals, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show executive producer Rich Appel and television director David Semel.
A friend of Couric's, Wendy Walker of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., gave a sweet speech, too.
Couric and Molner wed after a 10-month engagement. This is the second marriage for Couric, whose first husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998. The bride walked down the aisle wearing an ivory, crystal beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace halter gown with a high neckline, designed by Carmen Marc Valvo.
The couple's friend, John Ellis, officiated the intimate ceremony before a small group of close family and friends.
Florist Elisa Held Events provided gorgeous garden arrangements complimenting Katie's own. Peonies, garden roses, dahlias, lissianthus, spray roses, hydrangeas, mini calla, ranunculus, and vendela roses were displayed in centerpieces set in sleek, mirrored containers, the rep said. Hank Lane provided the music.
As for a honeymoon, the two will probably travel internationally later this summer. For now, they're heading to Colorado for the Aspen Ideas Festival, where the Yahoo news anchor will chat on stage with Aaron Sorkin about "the risky business of writing" on Sunday.
