No need to adjust the seat levels!
Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban have all officially signed on to return to American Idol for its 14th season, Fox announced on Monday. Also set to return to the longrunning reality hit? Ryan Seacrest, who will continue to host (and drag out long pauses).
"I am thrilled our consummate host, Mr. Ryan Seacrest, is returning for Season 14, together with Jennifer, Harry and Keith," American Idol's creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said in a statement. "Their interaction, warmth and experience made them an absolute joy to watch. I can't wait to see their evolution together continue next season."
David Hill, senior vice president of 21st Century Fox, added, "Jennifer, Keith, Harry and Ryan are the very best in the business at what they do, and I'm thrilled that they are returning to American Idol for another season. Each brings unique qualities and expertise to the team, but they all share the same passion for helping undiscovered singers achieve the American dream."
Though all three judges and Seacrest are returning, viewers can expect to see some changes in Season 14.
Idol will most likely be downsized to one episode per week when it returns in January. "I think you'll see it a two-night format, at least initially during the audition phase," former Fox boss Kevin Reilly said before his departure. "It's quite likely…we'll end up being a two-hour show on one night for most of its run." However, Idol will most likely "see it a two-night format, at least initially during the audition phase," Reilly noted.
