Kate Gosselin admits that there are worse ways to earn a living.
But the divorced mother of eight insists that she's doing just that by allowing cameras back into her and her family's life.
"Hear me very clearly," the star of the TLC special Kate Plus 8: Sextuples Turn 10 said in an interview with E! News this week. "If there was another way to singly support eight children, you would not know this name and I would be on an island, and so would they. You would never hear from us again."
While some of her detractors would probably be willing to take up a collection for that, Kate still has plenty of fans who are rooting for her success, five years after a cheating scandal and other issues resulted in the end of her marriage to Jon Gosselin after 10 years.
"Having said that," she continued, "this is a pretty fantastic way to feed my children, keep them in an amazing house, at an amazing school, and make memories together. That's just my life and cameras are there. So I understand this situation because I landed on TV somehow. This is just part of that. I look at it as work and the kids are with me, they run in and out of the frame, and we go to cool places sometimes."
On past seasons of her show post-divorce, Kate has traveled with her brood—now 13-year-old twins Cara and Madelyn and 10-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Collin, Joel, Leah, Alexis and Hannah—to the likes of New York City, Philadelphia, Tennessee, Alaska, Australia and New Zealand.
So, does Kate think that there might be a plus-one (in addition to the eight) to accompany her and the kids on future outings anytime soon?
Asked her list of qualities that she's looking for, the 39-year-old said simply, "He needs to be made of titanium. Steel doesn't cut it anymore."
"Yeah, sorry," she shrugged.
Well, she's been through a lot and her past drama certainly precedes her pretty much everywhere she goes, so...Yes, strong guy necessary.
