It's been a particularly public week for controversial male figures in fashion.

First, Terry Richardson is making bigger waves than usual with his New York magazine piece sparking backlash, and now Dov Charney, the CEO of American Apparel, has been ousted at the company as of Wednesday.

The news of Charney's suspension and imminent termination comes after an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct. American Apparel's board of directors released a statement, and the board's lead independent director Allan Mayer said, "We take no joy in this, but the board felt it was the right thing to do."

Charney is no stranger to controversy, and he's been in the headlines for alleged misconduct for years. But even still, he's remained the public face of the brand throughout. But that won't be the case for much longer. Charney will have a 30-day "cure period," and then he will be terminated from the company.

The public statement does not specify what exact kind of "misconduct" Charney has been found guilty of, but a source revealed to the LA Times that his alleged misconduct is not criminal, but instead "involved his personal conduct with women, and poor judgment."
