Simon Cowell Will Tell Son Eric If He's a Bad Singer, But "Might Not Be Quite as Blunt With Him" About It!

Fatherhood certainly has showed us the softer side of Simon Cowell!

The Britain's Got Talent judge seems like a teddy bear when he's spending time with 4-month-old son Eric Cowell, but don't think for a second he's lost his edge. In fact, the 54-year-old first-time dad thinks that—hypothetically—he'd be able to tell his own son if he was a bad singer!

"If Eric wants to try out being a singer, I would be OK with that," Simon told The Sun in an interview published Sunday. "I certainly wouldn't stop him."

"But," he continued, "I'll tell him straight if he can't do it! Admittedly, I might not be quite as blunt as I am with some of the contestants."

What Simon would really like, though, is for little Eric to follow in his footsteps and work on the other side of things in the music business. "In all seriousness, he's going to do what I do," Simon predicted. "In time, he's going to inherit my business. That's certainly the plan."

Someday Eric might take over the Cowell empire, but he might have to share it! "I wouldn't rule out [more children]," he told Extra in an interview shortly after girlfriend Lauren Silverman gave birth Feb. 14. "I had a brother when I was younger, so I kind of think it's cool to have two or three...two."

Of all his gigs, though, fatherhood is Simon's best so far. Because, as he explained, "I was born to be a dad!"
