Jennifer Lawrence tried—and failed—to dance with Jennifer Lopez last month.

The X-Men: Days of Future Past actress detailed her humiliation on The Tonight Show weeks later, chastising host Jimmy Fallon for abandoning their ill-conceived plan to shimmy with the superstar.

Lopez got to share her side of the story Monday when she appeared on the NBC late-night show. "I heard about it after you guys talked about it," the 44-year-old "I Luh Ya Papi" singer said, laughing.

Fallon—who called the would-be moment a "J.Lo, J.Law, J.Fal production"—filled in the details for his guest. "Jennifer Lawrence goes, 'Let's spin around three times like we're dancing, and then we'll look at J.Lo for the third spin, we'll put our hands out and say, Will you please dance with us?'" he recalled.

During his final spin, Fallon made eyes with Lopez's manager, who shot him a disapproving look.

At the time, Lopez was standing on a couch to get a better view of Kanye West. "I remember seeing you guys come over, and ire member Jennifer asking, "Let's go out to the dance floor and dance!' That's how I remember it. 'Let's go dance out there where everybody's dancing!'" she said. "And I'm like, 'Nah, I'm good right here.' I kind of felt like she was sad. I didn't mean it like that! I just meant it's crazy out there."

Fallon joked that Lawrence "didn't talk" to him "for months."

"I wouldn't talk to you either," Lopez said. "You bailed on the bit!"

"I always follow through," Fallon countered, "and so I was wondering tonight, will you dance with me?"

Lopez agreed. As the duo got on their feet, Fallon shouted, "Jennifer Lawrence, hope you're watching!"
