E! News has learned that the American Idol judge confided in none other than her ex-husband Marc Anthony regarding her ill-fated relationship.
"One person she got advice from is her ex Marc…He's been supportive and great through this all," a source tells us.
And despite J.Lo and Smart's breakup being "a long time coming," the two are still on good terms.
"She will definitely still keep things civil and actually still loves him. The hard part is the kids love him too. He has become a part of her family," our insider adds.
"It's not going to be one of those breakups where you never see them together again."
Another source says that Lopez was "so embarrassed" when the sexting allegations came out. The source says that J.Lo believed Smart when he vehemently denied he was hiding some sort sexting relationship he had with a transsexual, who tabloids claim he met via Instagram.
"He's never cheated on her," the source said.
Neither Lopez nor Smart has much time to mourn the end of their relationship, as both have had jam-packed schedules lately.
J.Lo is of course promoting her next album and most recently performed a free concert in the Bronx, while Smart was spotted at a children's charity event in Puerto Rico.
He also co-starred and did the choreography for the short film Pura Vida that was released earlier this week.
E! News previously reported that Lopez broke up with the professional dancer due to trust issues.
"The relationship had not been right for a while. Smart was never going to be the love of her life, but he was fun and a nice guy to be around. It stopped being fun once his friendships with other people started to come to light."
Reps for J.Lo and Smart are not commenting.
