In an interesting move for an awards show all about TV, the 2014 Daytime Emmy Awards will not actually be on TV, but instead exclusively stream online.
Fans of shows like One Life to Live, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and Jeopardy—all nominees this year—will have to go to DaytimeEmmys.net (which promises to be up and running soon) on June 22 to see who walks away with the top awards at the 41st annual ceremony.
The Daytime Emmys honors everything from soap operas to talk shows to cooking programs, along with news, game shows, and home improvement shows. This year marks the debut two new categories, including Outstanding Entertainment News and Outstanding New Approaches Drama Series.
The ceremony was broadcast on major networks up until 2012, when it moved to the cable channel HLN. In 2013, around 913,000 viewers tuned in, compared to about 5.5 million when it was last broadcast on CBS in 2011.
This year, The Young and the Restless leads all shows with 26 total nominations. The Ellen Degeneres Show received 9 nominations, while Sesame Street earned 15.
"We are confident that the expert team we've brought on will flawlessly execute an evening that celebrates the outstanding talent being honored and allows fans to be a part of the action," said National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences chairman Malachy Wienges in a statement.
