If you know anything about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, it's that these two are all about go big or go home.

And while the two lovebirds have said that their wedding ceremony was going to be small and intimate, that doesn't mean that they couldn't get a piece of history to make their big day that much more special. The stars have rented the historic and stunning 16th century fortress—known to locals as the Forte di Belvedere—to be the location where they swapped vows in front of their nearest and dearest today.

So what's so special about this place? Well, gosh. Where do we begin?

The breathtaking venue is a historic masterpiece atop a hill near the Arno river, that was built by the powerful Medici family's Grand Duke Ferdinando I, who commissioned Bernardo Buontalenti to design the beautiful building in 1590.

Spokeswoman Elisa Di Lupa claims that North West's parents rented the venue for €300,000 ($410,000) for the big event.

The stunning fortress was closed for five years for renovation, only reopening its doors to the public in 2013 to host art exhibits and concerts. The Forte di Belvedere is famed for its stunning panoramic views (it's located next to Florence's Boboli Gardens) as well as the collection of contemporary art, however it's temporarily closed to allegedly prepare for Kimye's special day.

Congratulations again to the happy couple!
