Attention, Star Wars fans!

J.J. Abrams made a special announcement today, revealing that fans now can win a chance to be in Star Wars: Episode VII, the next installment of the famous sci-fi franchise.

The film's director announced the creation of Star Wars: Force of Change, a new initiative from Disney and Lucas Films in collaboration with Bad Robot, which seeks to find innovative solutions to some of the world's biggest problems.

The very first Star Wars: Force for Change campaign "will raise funds and awareness for the United Nations Children's Fund's Innovation Labs and its innovative programs that are benefitting the world's most vulnerable children."

Disney has already pledged $1 million in support of the launch. Fans are encouraged to donate directly to the site, and for each $10 contribution, eligible participants will be entered for a chance to appear in the upcoming flick.

The Star Wars: Force for Change grand prize includes: airfare and accommodations to London for one winner and guest, behind-the-scenes access to the set including a meet and greet with castmembers and of course, a cameo in Star Wars: Episode VII.

"The Star Wars fans are some of the most passionate and committed folks around the globe," the director said in a statement. "We're thrilled to offer a chance to come behind the scenes as our VIP guests and be in Star Wars: Episode VII. We're even more excited that by participating in this campaign, Star Wars fans will be helping children around the world through our collaboration with UNICEF Innovation Labs and projects."

Abrams made his surprise announcement from Abu Dhabi, where production on the highly-anticipated flick has already begun. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the famed director and cast flew to Abu Dhabi in early May to begin filming.

Bad Robot, the production company founded by Abrams, tweeted out a picture of a film slate on Thursday night to indicate that production has officially started on the flick. The photo was simply accompanied with the hashtag #dayone.

Last month, the cast for Episode VII was also revealed. John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join original stars of the saga Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
