Samantha Harris is on the mend.

The former Dancing With the Stars host successfully underwent a double mastectomy, just over one month after she publicly announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Harris took to Twitter to let her fans that the surgery went smoothly and she seemed in good spirits, even referring to the surgical markings on her chest as "art."

"Made it thru grueling double mastectomy #surgery. Thanks to all of my amazing surgical team. Like my "art" b4 heading in?!," she captioned the WhoSay photo from her hospital bed.

During a routine examination last fall, Harris detected a lump in her right breast, and while her prior mammogram was clean, the former E! News correspondent sought further help from another specialist.

A needle biopsy, followed by a lumpectomy, revealed that the brunette beauty had breast cancer. "It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest," the 40-year-old told People.

Harris, who has two daughters with husband Michael Hess, turned to her friends for support and bonded with Giuliana Rancic, who also successfully underwent a double mastectomy in 2011 after her own breast cancer diagnosis.

"Giuliana, you're like my soul sister now!" Harris told E! News in May. "We talked on the phone with my husband on speaker for about an hour, just sharing her story and commiserating for a little bit.

"Giuliana and all of the women that I have come to talk to that are survivors have be tremendously supportive and generous and have guided me on this very scary and rocky road," the 40-year-old continued before urging others to get regular breast examinations.

"Go, get it checked! Don't take 'I think it's fine' for an answer! Have a specialist look at it, someone who only looks at breasts every single day," she said.

Happy to hear Harris is on the road to recovery!
