Justin Kids Around

Justin Timberlake signs on to host the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards Mar. 31; meanwhile, finalists selected for his Grammy stunt

Come Mar. 31, Justin Timberlake is gonna cry himself a winner.

The "SexyBack" singer has been tapped to put his emcee skills to the test as the host of Nickelodeon's 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, honoring child-approved favorites in TV, movies, sports, music, books and videogames.

"I'm revving up to have an even bigger blast than usual," the former boy-bander said of his prime-time gig. "While honoring kids' opinions, it taps into the kid in all of us."

And, it seems, the sound-bite generator.

The 27-year-old song-and-dance man is a three-time winner of an orange blimp—the kid-centric awards show's hardware of choice—once for Best Musical Group stemming from his days in 'N Sync, and twice for Best Burp, the show's seminal honor.

But the ceremony has provided Timberlake with more than just mantlepiece tchotchkes: He famously met former girlfriend Cameron Diaz at the 2003 kudofest when she bequeathed him the Best Burp title.

Timberlake has yet another shot at blimp glory next month, as he's up this year for Favorite Male Singer, pitted against the likes of Chris Brown, Jesse McCartney and Sean Paul.

The Favorite Movie race has a slew of decidedly non-Oscar types: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Night at the Museum, Big Momma's House 2 and Click. Last year's Kids' Choice host, Jack Black, is up against Johnny Depp, Adam Sandler and Will Smith for Favorite Male Movie Star, while Halle Berry, Sarah Jessica Parker, Keira Knightley and Dakota Fanning, the only nominee who could conceivably cast a vote for herself, will battle it out for Fave Female Movie Star.

On the TV side, Nickelodeon's own Drake & Josh is up against Fear Factor, The Suite Life of Zach and Cody and American Idol.

Kids will be able to vote in the 16 categories online starting Mar. 5.

But the Kids' Choice Awards aren't the only show biz to-do in Timberlake's future.

This Sunday, the FutureSex/LoveSounds artist is up for four Grammys, including Album of the Year and Best Vocal Pop Album.

Timberlake will also be performing at the awards show along with one very lucky contest winner.

The singer has teamed up with the Recording Academy to launch My Grammy Moment, in which one unsigned artist would perform an on-air duet with the chart-topper.

The competition has been narrowed to three lucky ladies—30-year-old Africa Miranda, 22-year-old Brenda Radney and 18-year-old Robyn Troup—all of whom will spend the week rehearsing with Timberlake.

Fans can vote for their favorite performer online and the winner will be announced live just prior to taking the stage Sunday night.
