And there were two.

After what has seemed like years, we are finally down to American Idol's top two singers of season 13. Let's recap what took the series an hour to announce, in just a few paragraphs, shall we?

It was hometown visits this week and fans got the chance to travel home with finalists, and learn a bit more about them through the eyes of their friends and family. To make matters even more exciting the final three contestants also found out that they would be performing with a special musical guest in next week's finale.

Jena Irene was thrilled to discover that she will be joined on the American idol stage with Paramore, while Alex Preston will get to serenade the world alongside Jason Mraz. And as for Caleb Johnson? The North Carolina Native snagged the honor of singing with KISS!

Despite the fact that all three singers will be performing with their A-list musical partners in next week's episode finale, only two contestants will still be in the running for the title of the next American Idol. So will advance and who got axed just before the final week?

America voted and host Ryan Seacrest revealed that… Jena and Caleb are the top two finalists for season 13. This means that although Alex will get to be a part of the American Idol summer tour, and sing with Jason Mraz next week, he has officially been eliminated from the competition.

Do you think Alex deserved to be eliminated? Who do you think will be the next winner of American Idol? Sing your thoughts in the comments below!
