Apparently breaking up does a body good—at least according to Sherri Shepherd's estranged husband Lamar Sally.
The TV writer even instructed the magazine to find a photo of him looking svelte for its story.
"Use a slim picture," he joked. "Not the fat one from six months ago … I'm on the divorce diet."
Sally didn't elaborate on what he's been eating or if his weight loss was triggered by stress.
He was also tight-lipped about the couple's split, although he did admit, "I'm happy to be a father."
Sally filed for a legal separation earlier this month after less than three years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason and noting April 16 as their date of separation.
He is asking for primary legal and physical custody of the couple's unborn child, who's due on July 28, a son to be named Lamar Sally Jr., according to court documents filed May 2 and obtained by E! News.
Shepherd, who is also mom to 9-year-old son Jeffrey from her first marriage, exchanged vows with Sally on Aug. 13, 2011, in Chicago.
The actress and The View co-host said last summer that she and Sally were planning on adding to their family and had found a surrogate.
He is asking that his future ex-wife be granted visitation rights.
