A Cat That's Been Missing Since the 2011 Japan Tsunami Has Finally Been Reunited With His Family

Right now, this Monday is looking bleak. Solange Knowles is allegedly caught on tape fighting with Jay Z. TV shows are getting canceled left and right. Neighbors premiered this weekend, which means Zac Efron's shirtless promotional tour is officially over. It's bleak, you guys. But we have a ray of hope for you to bask in until the darkness passes.

And that ray of hope comes in the form of Suika the cat.

Three years ago during the devastating tsunami in Japan, the Yamagishi family lost their cat, Suika in the middle of all the chaos. They reportedly spent three months looking for their pet before giving him up for dead.

Jump to April 10 of this year, more than three years after the earthquake and tsunami struck. A couple walking in the town close to where the Yamagishi family lives came upon a cat sleeping under a tree. The cat was wearing a collar, so they took him to a shelter and the search for the stray cat's owners began.

When no one claimed the cat, they decided to take photos of him to post in local newspapers. On May 9 an employee was taking the pics and he got a closer look at the collar and realized there was a faded name and number on it. The digits were the cell phone number for Takeo Yamagishi, who immediately confirmed that the stray cat they found was Suika.

Takeo's daughter reportedly burst into tears when she heard that the family pet was alive and well.

"Where have you been?" Takeo's wife Kazuko asked Suika at the health center where the reunion took place. "It's just like a dream."

We bet Suika is getting lots of cuddles and treats now that he's home with his family. And we hope this heartwarming story keeps everyone strong through this dark time of canceled TV shows, no more shirtless Zefron (until his next movie) and whatever the hell is going on with Beyoncé, her sister and her husband.
