Disney is buzzing over Million Dollar Arm and Maleficent, both in theaters this month, but it's also building anticipation for another movie: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

The family comedy stars Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner as a married couple in the big screen adaptation of Judith Viorst's beloved 1972 children's book of the same name. The story follows Alexander (Ed Oxenbould), who is having the worst day an 11-year-old can imagine. His family seemingly shows little sympathy, and he begins to wonder if bad things happen only to him.

"I feel like no one understands me," he tells his older brother, played by Dylan Minnette.

As he soon learns, one day can change everything. Alexander's bad luck spreads to his family, as his dad must find creative ways not to blow a job interview, his brother fails his driving test, and his mother struggles to keep the family from falling apart. Oh, and there's a kangaroo on the loose.

Amid all the chaos, it's Alexander who reminds them that life gets better. "I think you just gotta have the bad days so you can love the good days even more. Trust me—I would know," he says.

Directed by Miguel Arteta, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day also stars Jennifer Coolidge, Kerris Dorsey, Donald Golver and Bella Thorne. The movie hits theaters Oct. 10.
