Alanis Morissette is making headlines after recording a campaign theme song for congressional candidate Marianne Williamson.

The 39-year-old singer penned the ballad—titled "Today"—in hopes of propelling her political pal to success as she is running for Rep. Henry Waxman's seat in California's 33rd district, which just so happens to include celebrity-inundated hot spots such as Malibu, Bel-Air and Beverly Hills.

"I was attempting to capture the passion, mission, activism, deep humanity and tenderness of Marianne, the new political sensibility she represents and the consciousness that produced it," Morissette said in a statement. "Recording at Sunset Sound with my bandmates, Marianne came by and visited. We all huddled together as the song was recorded. I love this song. I love this woman, and I love a world that would vote for her."

"Alanis Morissette has produced a masterpiece," Williamson wrote on her website. "I have never heard a song more powerfully describe this moment in our history, or more lovingly call forth our generation's genius from the ashes of our pain. With her inimitable musical alchemy, Alanis has provided an anthem for our audacious quest to get America back on track."

She added: "In the words of Benjamin Franklin, 'America's destiny is not Power, but Light.' Would he love Alanis, or what?"

The song calls for a "revolution" and a "mending of our union" while the accompanying video shows Marianne meeting with the public as Alanis sings in the studio.

While Williamson's campaign tactics may seem unconventional, they have seemingly proved successful as she has been endorsed by celebs such as Eva Longoria, Jane Lynch and Nicole Richie.

Additionally, Kim Kardashian, her sister Kourtney, singer Katy Perry and Nicole Richie were also on hand last month to support the self-help author-turned-Congressional candidate at a political event in Los Angeles.
