Scott Eastwood is in good company.

The 28-year-old actor scored the lead role in The Longest Ride, Fox 2000's film adaptation of Nicolas Sparks' best-selling novel of the same name. Eastwood follows in the famous footsteps of actors Kevin Costner, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Richard Gere, Ryan Gosling, Liam Hemsworth, Channing Tatum and Shane West, all of whom brought the celebrated author's characters to life on the big screen.

Based on the 2013 novel, The Longest Ride tells the story of an elderly widower named Ira whose life becomes entwined with that of a college student named Sophia and the cowboy (Eastwood) she loves.

George Tillman Jr. is directing the romantic drama, which arrives in theaters on Apr. 3, 2015.

On Wednesday, Eastwood confirmed his casting via Instagram. Posing with the novel in hand, the Fury star wrote, "Great book. Thanks Fox for this amazing opportunity!! #thelongestride #nicholassparks."

Before The Longest Ride hits theaters, however, another one of Sparks' works will get the movie treatment. Best of Me, starring James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan, hits theaters this October.
