Well, there you have it.

While George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin themselves have not actually spoken out about their engagement, Alamuddin's law firm nevertheless confirmed it by way of a congratulatory statement on Monday.

"The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of Chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married," read the statement, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, Robin Jackson, chief executive of Alamuddin's law firm, told Reuters, "She brings a bright light to everything she is involved in, and I am so delighted at her happy news."

As E! News reported over the weekend, Clooney had recently popped the question to human rights lawyer Alamuddin after barely seven months of dating.

The pretty pair was first romantically linked in October when they looked cozy at a dinner party together, with the two presumably bonding over their shared concern for global human rights and work with the United Nations.

The couple later vacationed in the Seychelles together in March and went on a safari in Tanzania before returning to the States, where they've been spotted enjoying several date nights in New York and Los Angeles.

This will be the second trip down the aisle for Clooney, who was married to Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993.
