The end is near!

Week after week, we've watched as the competition for the next American Idol keeps getting smaller and smaller, now we could not be more thrilled to finally be left with our top five singers. (This season seems to be lasting a lifetime, no?)

Internet sensation, Grumpy Cat, returned to the Idol arena again tonight, and for a brief moment we thought that this unimpressed feline was going to permanently take over Randy Jackson's role as mentor. However, our hopes were dashed when Jackson emerged to give his criticisms of Wednesday night's performances.

The mentor mentioned that Jena, Alex and Caleb are incredibly strong contenders for the crown, while CJ "had some struggles last night." This week, America voted and the bottom two singers are CJ Harris and Jessica Meuse. So who won't be retuning next week?

Say goodbye to… CJ Harris!

Before discovering who had been eliminated, host Ryan Seacrest asked CJ and Jessica if either of them would have done anything different in this competition. Jessica said nothing, as she remained true to herself, while CJ said he'd have picked better songs.

In a surprising sweet and incredibly classy move, CJ approached the Idol band before his final performance to thank them for all of their hard work over this season. (How nice of him!) For his swan song, CJ performed a soulful rendition of Marshall Tucker Band's "Can't You See," before getting bombarded with hugs from his former contestants.

Do you think CJ deserved to be eliminated? Who do you think will be the next winner of American Idol? Sing your thoughts in the comments below!
