Can we have the skateboards, ties and angry music back, please?

Avril Lavigne released the music video for her latest single "Hello Kitty" (which doesn't really have anything to do with the actual brand, thank goodness), and it's unlike anything we've seen from the singer—but not necessarily in a good way.

The clip, which makes us wonder whether or not PSY was behind it, shows Avril prancing around in a crazy tutu while randomly yelling out Japanese phrases as an army of Asian dancers bust a move (every minute or so) behind her.

So, if you haven't already figured it out, we're not a fan. Sorry, Avril.

But we don't want to just knock the entire video completely—there are a few things we like. The bright colors, for example, are pretty and all the candy looks delicious. Avril, despite her questionable outfit choices, looks good. And who doesn't love to learn a few words in a different language?

However, the video as a whole is unfortunate and the only explanation that would make sense to all of this is if Lavigne was playing a joke on all of us, in which case—touché.
