Chelsea Clinton called it!
Late last year, the 34-year-old said that 2014 would be "the Year of the Baby" for her and husband Marc Mezvinsky, and she's right! Bill and Hillary Clinton's daughter announced today that she's pregnant with her first child.
The announcement came during a joint event with her mother for the Clinton Foundation's "No Ceilings: The Full Participation" project.
"I have one more thing to say very quickly," Chelsea said near the conclusion of the event. "I just want to thank all of you for being such an inspiration to us and to me in particular. Marc and I are very excited that we have our first child arriving later this year."
"And I certainly feel all the better, whether it's a girl or a boy, that she or he will grow up in a world with so many strong, young female leaders," she said.
She also took to Facebook and wrote, "Marc and I are so thrilled to be expecting our first child in the fall! Thank you for all of the kind words!"
During an interview with Glamour magazine for their November 2013 issue, Clinton revealed that the passing of her grandmother pushed her and her hubby to start a family of their own.
"We sat down and said, 'Here's what we want to do,'" Clinton began to tell the magazine. "The first thing on the list was simple: We want, God willing, to start a family. So we decided we were going to make 2014 the Year of the Baby. And please, call my mother and tell her that. She asks us about it every single day."
We're betting Hillary is over the moon right now!
And it's a good thing Chelsea is "obsessed with diarrhea" because we sense a lot of poopy diapers in her future.
Congratulations to the couple!
