We've kept silent about Katy Perry's self-described "slime green" hair for over 48 hours now. You know that as soon as we saw the Instagram photo on Monday of the pop star's newly-dyed tresses, we wanted to take to our keyboards to voice our grievances. But we showed restraint…

We thought we would give the 29-year-old "Dark Horse" singer a chance to fix the color or at least dye the rest of her head the same hue! But after we saw the photos of Ms. Perry attending a political event last night, we came to the sad realization that the half-assed green hair is here to stay.

On a happier note, the songstress's makeup was pure perfection: glowing skin, black-lined eyes and a rose-hued lip. It's baffling to us that Katy is so spot-on at choosing flattering makeup but so lost when it comes to making decisions about her tresses.

Beauty Bailout: Listen, we get that Katy is dealing with a recent breakup and she wanted to do something drastic to her appearance. But she can make a drastic change and still look beautiful!

If she insists on keeping the slime green color then she should at least dye all of her hair. What would compel her to leave the hair at the crown of her head black? It's like she's purposely trying to look like a mall rat.

We personally think that if the songstress wants to celebrate spring, she should opt for lavender, rose or even a nice tangerine hue. The green (especially paired with the black hair) just screams "Halloween."

Try the Look: Jolly Green Giant hair aside, Katy's makeup did look amazing. If your skin is prone to blemishes or oiliness like Katy's, after moisturizing and priming skin, apply a light-to-medium coverage BB cream or foundation that will even out your skin tone while controlling oil, like Benefit Big Easy Multi-Balancing Complexion Perfector.

Pat on concealer under eyes (never rub) and apply it to entire upper eye area to act as a primer. Cover entire upper eye area with a matte bone-colored powder eye shadow. Next, cover lids with a shimmering pink shadow stick, like Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick in Angel Shimmer. To make eyes appear larger, contour (create a crescent moon shape with a windshield wiper motion) your creases with a matte pink or taupe eye shadow.

Next, apply liquid matte black eyeliner like Jane Cosmetics Water-Resistant Liquid Eye Liner to the upper lash line, making the line thicker as you get towards the outer corner. Tip: If you smear your line or make it too thick, use a Q-tip soaked in makeup remover to correct any mistakes. Complete the eye makeup by applying two to three coats of volume-building mascara.

If your skin is prone to oiliness like Katy's, you'll want to use a clay-based powder blush in a pink coral for your cheeks, like Tarte Cosmetics Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Fearless. Using a blush brush, apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, pulling the brush upwards towards your temples for extra lift.

To get Katy's rosy pink pucker, start by exfoliating lips with a sugar scrub or dry toothbrush. Next, line and fill in entire lip area with a neutral-colored lip pencil to ensure lipstick lasts. Then, apply a glossy pink rose lipstick or lipstick pencil like MAC PatentPolish Lip Pencil in Spontaneous

We just love Katy's makeup and we wish we could Photoshop out that hair to truly enjoy it. We guess the one good thing about her dyeing just the shaft of her hair green is the fact that we get to see what the singer would look like with a pixie (just pretend the green hair is part of the floral background in the pic). Maybe after the next breakup?
