There are trends that come and go, and for that we are grateful (cough, cough culottes cough, cough), but some looks deserve more than fifteen minutes of fashion fame. Case in point, the slip dress. It was all the rage in the '90s but according to some of 2014's hottest celebs, it's here to stay in a brand new way.

Lea Michele offers the sweetest version of a bra-top dress we've ever seen with this Elie Saab style. The pink reminds us of a little girl's bedroom, not a vixen's boudoir, and yet the shapely top highlights everything the Glee star's got! We're big fans of the ruffly update to the typical straight slip skirt.

It's entirely possible that Kate Moss originated the obsession with this lace-topped look, and here she is decades later still absolutely owning it. The British beauty can obviously do no wrong, but there's something about her lithe body in this single piece of silky fabric that's just right.

Nicole Richie's gold Marc Jacobs stunner isn't exactly what we envision when we think slip dress, but it still has a red carpet nightie feel with those micro-thin straps and slinky cut. Though with an underthing like this, who would ever bother putting on the actual dress?

Much like Lea's look, Rooney Mara's pale pink tea length look has a tad more typical dress shape than Kate's true bedroom attire. But the sexy factor on this frock comes from that delicate neckline. It's like a flapper girl finally came home after a night of dancing at the jazz clubs.

When the hottest starlet on the planet is wearing a style, you know it's here to stay for awhile. Shailene Woodley's Stella McCartney design is like liquid, just as a true piece of lingerie should be, but in this dreamy periwinkle shade, it's ready for the big, bright spotlight.
