TwitterBreak out the balloons and sweet treats because Katy Perry's next single is "Birthday."
The 29-year-old pop princess tweeted on Thursday that the upbeat tune will be the fourth single off her smash album Prism.
"In honor of #TBT may I present the cover of my NEXXXT single," she shared along with the vintage cover art.
The old school photograph features a young Perry clad in an adorable flower-patterned frock and a big bow in her wavy locks. She is sitting with her similarly dressed, but blurred-out, sister Angela Hudson. There are of course some cute modern additions, like the singer's name spelled out in colorful balloons and an ornate cake with appropriate "Birthday" candles.
"IF you would like to see my sisters amazing face/pose get #BIRTHDAY trending to the top & I will UNLOCK the genius with you... Hahahahahaha," Perry teased in a follow-up tweet.
Sure enough, Perry got her trending wish, so she tweeted the unaltered version of the photograph. We have to agree with the "Dark Horse" crooner because her sister's pose is pretty fantastic.
Perry is gearing up for her seven-month Prismatic World Tour, which kicks off on May 7 in Belfast.
"I'm challenging myself again, pushing my limits as I do, as a Scorpion does," she revealed to E! News at MOCA's 35th Anniversary Gala Presented by Louis Vuitton on Saturday. "I'm very excited because I believe this is my best work yet as far as live performances. It's going to be just as colorful and fun as before, bit's obviously not based on candy. It's grown up. It's more mature."
