The Alabama-born sweethearts took to Twitter to announce their engagement last week, and along with sharing the happy news, Webb proudly showed off her flawless ring that was designed by her hubby-to-be.
And now, David Shara, president of Optimum Diamonds, tells E! News all the exclusive details on working with McCarron to design Katherine Webb's sparkler. "AJ and I designed the engagement ring together in collaboration," he tells us. "He wanted a timeless, classic design that was able to incorporate natural, fancy-colored diamonds into the design in a subtle and elegant manner."
Shara continued, "I recommended the 5-carat cushion-cut center stone to be accentuated by pink diamonds from the famed Argyle Diamond Mine in Australia. We decided on a very refined balance of antique and modern to showcase the amazing cushion-cut diamond."
He added, "AJ was a pleasure to work with and a true gentleman."
But the work is yet to be done. "AJ loved the amazing natural vivid green, pink, red, blue and aqua colored diamonds that we specialize in. Katherine loved the pink diamonds as well and we are going to design some incredible and unique pieces for the bridal set—something borrowed and something blue."
"WE'RE ENGAGEDDD!!! @10AJMcCarron," the former Miss Alabama USA tweeted on Friday after her longtime boyfriend popped the question. She also gave fans an up-close view of the gorgeous ring and wrote, "Can't wait to marry my best friend."
