Jill Duggar of 19 Kids & Counting has entered into a courtship with Derick Dillard.
"I was really impressed with his character and I was surprised how much we have the same vision and life goals," Jill told People of her budding courtship (courting is a more conservative form of dating, which involves waiting until marriage to kiss). "He's a great guy."
Jill, 22, and Derick, 25, were introduced remotely by her father Jim Bob Duggar while the two men were doing religious missionary work in Nepal. Jill and Derick then corresponded electronically before meeting in person.
"We got to know each other in the first few months pretty quickly," Jill explained. "I was in love with someone I had never met in person, but we really knew each other well."
Jill is the second Duggar daughter to court a man. Back in September, Jessa Duggar, 20, began courting beau Ben Seewald, 18.
At the time, Jim Bob explained his family's formal practice of courting as a more formal and religion-based way of getting to know one's significant other. "Courting is getting to know each other in a group setting, both families spending time together and the couple setting goals together to determine if they are meant to marry," he said. "With dating, a couple will often pair off alone and that sometimes leads to a more physical relationship."
