Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesWhile Justin Bieber may have taken home a trophy at the Juno Awards on Sunday evening, it's safe to say the 20-year-old singer didn't receive the kind of reception he was hoping for—and he wasn't even present.
And to make matters worse, the ceremony was held in Canada, which is J.B.'s native country, suggesting his headline-making year may have indeed impacted his onetime fiercely dedicated fan base.
Reports claim the "Beauty and a Beat" singer, who won the Juno fan choice award, was greeted with both cheers and boos when his name was called inside Winnipeg's MTS Center.
Canada's Olympic women's curling team accepted the award on behalf of Selena Gomez's on-again-off-again beau, and fellow Canadian music artist Serena Ryder defended the Biebs against the backlash when she took the stage to accept her Juno award for songwriter of the year.
"I really think that Justin Bieber is an amazing musician, and he deserved every bit of that award because he's been working his ass off his entire life, and we need to support how awesome he is," Ryder said.
J.B. tweeted after the show thanking his fans for their support. "We won #JUNOFanChoice for the 4th year in a row! Love to all my beliebers. Thank u. Love u," he wrote, adding, "As long as u are with me I will never leave you."
Meanwhile, Bieber is still dealing with the aftermath surrounding the allegations that the singer egged his neighbor's home and despite reports that a plea deal is underway, a source in the District Attorney's office tells E! News that no decision has been made yet.
Additionally, Lt. Dave Thompson of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spoke to E! News exclusively on Wednesday and said that his department "presented the case as a felony and still believes it's a felony crime."
He added, though, that "the DA has not given any indication on their decisions and there's been no discussion of a plea deal to their knowledge."
And while Thompson stated that "the LASD isn't pushing for jail time," he also noted that "they believe the case rises to a felony for several reasons including it being a targeted attack. By charging him with a felony, it would force Justin to appear in court and take responsibility for his behavior. He would be put on felony probation, where his behavior can be controlled."
However, "if Justin is charged with a misdemeanor, he would have to pay restitution and never appear in court," Thompson pointed out.
Selena Gomez has also been served with legal papers in connection with yet another lawsuit pending against the pop star and has been subpoenaed to testify in a suit filed by a paparazzo who alleges that the Biebs "physically attacked" him in May 2012.
