Oh American Horror Story. Stop stealing all the best actors already!
Michael Chiklis is joining the cast for the show's fourth season, entitled American Horror Story: Freak Show, executive producer Ryan Murphy announced during PaleyFest Friday night in Hollywood.
"What a way to come back to my home network," Chiklis told the screaming crowd at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. "We're going to freak you and scare you!"
Chiklis, who is best known for playing the lead on FX's hit series The Shield, will be playing Kathy Bates' ex-husband and the father of Evan Peters' character. We aren't family-tree whizzes or anything, but clearly there's a chance Jessica Lange will be playing Evan's mother.
She also will be rocking a German accent. Evan Peters told us tonight that he's not quite sure what the specific plans are for his character, but "I don't do any accents." Lange definitely will be using hers though.
Freak Show will be set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950 and feature Lange as a German ex-pat managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.
Chiklis is new to the Ryan Murphy universe and will join previous Horror Story regulars Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Basset and Frances Conroy in the fourth season.
Tonight's panel also included a surprise appearance by Bates, and the super fun visual of Angela walking out with Kathy's head on a platter. Guess we know now what she took from the set!
