Selena Gomez Served With Legal Papers—See the Pics!

Is the singer being subpoenaed to testify in a Justin Bieber-related lawsuit?

Selena Gomez received quite the surprise while out and about in Los Angeles on Thursday.

As the "Come & Get It" singer was leaving a convenience store, she was approached by a woman who proceeded to hand her some legal papers.

While it still remains unclear exactly what the documents relate to specifically, there is speculation that she was being subpoenaed to testify in a lawsuit filed by a paparazzo who alleges that Justin Bieber "physically attacked" him in May 2012.

In the lawsuit filed in June 2013, Jose Osmin Hernandez Duran claimed he was among a group of paparazzi lawfully trying to photograph Bieber and Gomez in the parking lot of The Commons shopping center in Calabasas, Calif., when the alleged incident occurred.

The suit alleges that Bieber was having trouble maneuvering his Mercedes Sprinter van out of a parking space and had yelled, "F--k off! Get out of my way!" at those gathered around to watch him, when, "a few seconds later," he leaped out of the van, sprinted toward Duran and "delievered a martial-arts type kick" to the plaintiff's lower-left rib cage.

Bieber then punched Duran "hard" on the right side of his face, the complaint states, and pushed him back against a parked car, while Duran was saying, "'Justin, you don't have to do this,'" and holding up his hand in "a submissive gesture."

The suit further states that Gomez got out of the van and yelled, "'Justin, stop! They're taking your picture!'"

The incident was investigated by authorities but the L.A. County District Attorney's Office ultimately opted not to press charges against Bieber.

While it remains to be seen if the papers given to Gomez actually pertain to the Duran case, one thing is certain—she was not served for another Bieber-related case. At least, not yet.

The attorney representing Jeffrey Binion, the paparazzo who claims in a lawsuit he was assaulted by one of Bieber's bodyguards, tells E! News that the papers Gomez received yesterday did not come from his office. However, there are plans to serve her as well.
