FacebookAfter months of delay, production on Fast & Furious 7 is seemingly back on the fast track.
Filming has resumed on the franchise's seventh film and the cast and crew have officially headed back to work just less than four months after the tragic death of star Paul Walker, who died in a fiery car crash in late November.
Tyrese, who plays Roman Pearce in the franchise, Instagrammed a photo of Dubai today with the caption, "I'm back." Thus far, he is the only castmember to comment on production, although the Twitter account Everything Georgia also tweeted, "Fash & Furious 7 has resumed filming in Atlanta. Shooting will effect Fairlie Street, Marietta Street & Centennial Olympic Park Dr this week," on Tuesday.
Universal Pictures previously confirmed to E! News that shooting would resume in Atlanta on March 31, so it appears that things have gotten off to a bit of a head start.
Local news in Atlanta also confirmed that shooting will cause lane closures in the areas of Wall Street, Fairlie Street, Centennial Olympic Park Drive, and parts of Marietta Street March 16-22. In addition to the road closures, the report states that downtown businesses have received a notice regarding the noisy production work which will "include automotive stunts, simulated combat, and special effects."
Walker had already shot a number of scenes for the film, his sixth appearance in the series (having not appeared in The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift), when he was killed in a car crash Nov. 30 at the age of 40.
It's not known yet how the movie is going to handle saying goodbye to Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, but he will be in the film.
After Walker's death, Universal released a statement saying it is "our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise."
Michelle Rodriguez—who appeared in the originally Fast & Furious, as well as the sixth flick and is set to star in the seventh—most recently opened up about her late costar during an interview with Australian Today.
Calling Walker "an angel walking the Earth" she lamented with a heavy heart, "After 14 years of knowing and loving somebody as much as I loved him, the entire Fast & Furious family loved him, you tell me how you would feel if he just disappeared, but yeah, forget how awesome he was in the movies man, the guy had a heart of gold…it just sucks."
Fast & Furious 7 is due to hit theaters on April 10, 2015. (E! Online and Universal Pictures are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
