Nothing like a good country song come to life.
Jason Aldean is dating former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr, the young woman he stepped out on his wife with back in 2012, resulting in a very public humiliating cheating scandal for him at the time.
They've apparently been seeing each other since Aldean filed for divorce from Jessica Ussery last April after 12 years of marriage.
The country singer's rep confirmed the romance to E! News.
After being called out, he admitted to having too much to drink and acting inappropriately at a bar, leading to whatever transpired between him and Kerr. He wrote on Facebook in September that he was sorry for embarrassing his family and himself.
Aldean embarked on a series of interviews post-scandal, some with Jessica as a couple, each one more insistant than the last that what he and his family really needed was privacy and that he and his wife were working on things.
"Family's good, we're workin' through it," Aldean told E! News in October 2012, a couple of weeks post-scandal. "We're tryin' to move on, that's the biggest thing. And, hopefully, people will allow us the privacy to do that—and that's kinda it."
"I know everybody's kinda going to have their opinion, and for the people that know me...and the people that are standing by us and supporting us, all I've got to say to them is thanks...It's just been a really unfortunate thing," he also told CMT Insider. "Really embarrassing, I think, more than anything."
By April 2013, however, Aldean's rep acknowledged that the Wide Open artist and his wife were "having problems," and days later he filed for divorce in Williamstown County, Tenn., citing irreconcilable differences. They have two daughters together.
"This is a really tough time for my entire family," Aldean said at the time. "Jessica and I have been together since we were teenagers. We've been through a lot of ups and downs over the years as we grew together as a couple. She will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children, and I know that we will both always make our daughters our No. 1 priority."
