It's a sad day in the world of fashion as we learned that designer L'Wren Scott was found dead of an apparent suicide on March 17, 2014.

NBC New York has confirmed that the esteemed designer and girlfriend of Mick Jagger tragically took her life this morning in her posh Manhattan apartment, shocking fans and friends everywhere.

The 49-year-old beauty, who recently designed a collaboration collection for Banana Republic for holiday, and attracted a long list of celebrity fans including Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina JolieMichelle Obama, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams and more over the years, was found hanging by a scarf inside of her eighth floor apartment on 11th Avenue in the Big Apple.

A spokesperson for Jagger says the Rolling Stones frontman was "completely shocked and devastated" by the sudden death of his girlfriend.

Just last month, the style icon and former model, who previously walked the Paris runways for Chanel and Thierry Mugler, canceled her London Fashion Week show last month due to production problems.

The 6'4 stunner was raised by her Mormon adoptive parents in Roy, Utah and moved to California in the early 1990s to make her mark in the fashion industry as a stylist after much success as a model in Paris.

She collaborated with notables in the business including Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton, Karl Lagerfeld and Mario Sorrenti and established herself as a high-profile celebrity stylist working with powerhouses like Madonna and Julia Roberts over the years.

Scott founded her eponymous fashion label in 2006.
