It was no laughing matter when George Lopez was arrested for being drunk in public last month. But now that it's behind him, the comedian can make light of the situation.

The 52-year-old stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and recounted the incident.

"It's been about four years since you've been here and what ya been up to?" Ellen DeGeneres asked the funnyman, during an appearance scheduled to air on Thursday.

"Well, Ellen, recently I lifted myself off the casino floor in Canada," Lopez quipped, as the audience clapped and laughed. "Well apparently I'm a bigger Justin Bieber fan than I thought I was," he continued. "But you know how they always say whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but whatever happens in Canada everybody knows."

Even though he was intoxicated, Lopez said that the police in Canda were very "polite" as they tried to wake him up.

"They told me, they said 'Sir, this behavior cannot continue, and if it does continue, we would be honored if you would be mayor of Toronto,'" Lopez joked.

Lopez continued to poke fun at himself, revealing that he was on his way to his room but he "missed it by 35 floors" and "just because Mexicans invented tequila doesn't mean we can handle it."

All kidding aside, Lopez explained to DeGeneres that he has changed since the arrest and is a "new George."

"Well, I'm glad that you're OK, and I'm glad that you're stopping that or taking a break or whatever you're doing," DeGeneres said.

"Thank you. No, I'm stopping," he responded.
