Chelsea Clinton Is "Obsessed With Diarrhea"—But for a Really Good Reason!

Chelsea Clinton hasn't run for office (yet), but she has definitely taken a page from her mom and dad's playbook when it comes to public service and giving back.

Speaking at South by Southwest Interactive in Austin yesterday, the only child of Bill and Hillary Clinton talked about the Clinton Global Initiative's work to improve global health care and, in a subsequent Q&A, she frankly discussed the humanitarian causes that concern her.

Chelsea was so frank, in fact, that while discussing the clean-water crisis in Kenya, she happened to mention that she's "obsessed with diarrhea."

"It doesn't make me squeamish," she insisted as she knowledgeably rattled off statistics (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree) about deaths attributed to dehydration in the African nation.

So, she made a few other people squeamish. No big deal.

Asked what she would tell young people who'd like to make a difference but aren't sure how to get started, Chelsea replied, "I'd focus on what you're most passionate about and what makes you angry. I'd ask myself, 'What do I think is really unjust?' That should be a starting point for how you engage with the world."

The 34-year-old also revealed that she's the one who taught her otherwise very accomplished parents how to text—and how to charge their phones!

"I'm sure that's not uncommon for many people in this room," Chelsea told the audience of roughly 3,000.

Former President Clinton is "now a pretty good tweeter and a pretty good texter, but he's only sent about two emails," she cracked. (Meanwhile, major tip of the hat goes to Stephen Colbert as well, for signing the onetime commander in chief up for Twitter in the first place. Clinton has tweeted 160 times and has 1.66 million followers.)
