Keith Richards is venturing into the world of children's literature.
The 70-year-old Rolling Stones rocker has announced he's writing a new kids' book titled Gus & Me: The Story of My Granddad and My First Guitar. The book will detail Richards' childhood memories, specifically those with his jazz musician grandfather Theodore Augustus Dupree [Gus].
"I have just become a grandfather for the fifth time, so I know what I'm talking about," Richards said in a statement. "The bond, the special bond, between kids and grandparents is unique and should be treasured. This is a story of one of those magical moments. May I be as great a grandfather as Gus was to me."
"Who wouldn't welcome the opportunity to meet Keith Richards as a young boy?" Megan Tingley, executive vice president and publisher for Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, added. "Gus & Me invites readers to be in the room at the electrifying moment that Keith holds a guitar in his hands for the first time."
Richards' 28-year-old daughter Theodora Richards (who was named for her grandfather) will illustrate the book. Gus & Me is set to hit stores on Sept. 9 via hardcover book and ebook.
This isn't Richards first book. He released a memoir in 2010 titled Life, which was co-written by journalist James Fox.
