Are Jimmy Kimmel and Seth Rogen the new Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson?

To kick off his week of shows at the South by Southwest festival on Monday, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host provided viewers with an "exclusive" first look at the second season of HBO's True Detective.

"Next season will follow two completely different detectives on a completely different case. There's been much speculation about which actors will be tapped to play those roles, and I'm excited to announce here at Southwest the identity of those actors, and also to announce that it is going to be set here in Austin next season," Kimmel, 46, told the audience before introducing the preview clip.

Speaking with a Southern drawl, Kimmel's character weighed in on having Rogen by his side. "You don't pick your parents and you don't pick your partner. You need to understand, Seth was intense. He came out of years deep narco," said the comic, who's been diagnosed with narcolepsy in real life. Rogen then appeared on screen, adding, "I put a great deal of terrible s--t in my body when I was under. I swallowed a whole bottle of children's Tylenol PM, and not just the pills—the bottle," he said. "Costco size. I pooped out the whole bottle, opened it, and ate its contents. That was for breakfast."

"Seth had a lot of thoughts about life, religion, dark thoughts," Kimmel's character said. Cut to Rogen, who mocked McConaughey's Rust Cohle when he asked, "You ever seen a baby kill its own mama with a breakfast taco? That f--ked me up." Another scene shows Rogen, 31, quoting Cher's "If ICould Turn Back Time" and Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time." And yes, Kimmel eventually participates in the sing-along.

The clip takes a twist and Rogen and Kimmel go in for a kiss—you'll have to see it to believe it.
